Wookie
An amazing, bright orange-cinnamon mohair humpbacked teddy bear c.1920s, with a long pointed muzzle and original features, including back-painted glass eyes. Wookie stands 54 cms (21") high and is heavily-stuffed with woodwool.
He's fully-jointed, with big pointed feet and twill pads. Both paws have seam repairs and one also has some darning. He has interesting nose stitching - black horizontal threads, oversewn by vertical tan stitches, which are probably a later addition. No mouth remains. There's also a non-working tilt growler and both ears have been re-secured. His eyes also show a little paint loss.
He's been much-loved, and there are darned repairs mainly to the top of his right arm, chest, side, and right ankle. But, he's a good strong bear, and has kept about 70% of his fur, with patchy loss as shown in our photos. Wookie's a truly stunning colour, and a wonderful old character, wearing his handmade clown suit and vintage straw hat.
