Frank Pike
Frank Pike is a conscientious Merrythought teddy bear, doing his bit for Queen and country by guarding the home front. This is probably why he's in fantastic condition, with no war wounds. On the contrary, Pike still retains his wishbone button in his back, and also his embroidered footlabel c.1930s, as well as the chest cord which would have held his swing tag.
All original, and 51 cms (20") tall, he has amber glass eyes and a black-stitched nose and mouth. His brushed cotton pads are in good condition, and he boasts a full set of claws.
Fully-jointed and stuffed with kapok (head woodwool), Pike's squeaker no longer works, but he's kept about 90% of his gold mohair, and is a truly wonderful example of an early Merrythought.
Pike is wearing his felted wool 'uniform' with an original WW1 flag day pin 'St.George for England' and Civil Defence Corps badge. He's named after his favourite 'Dads' Army' TV character.
