Berta
A delightful, rare artsilk plush Steiff Teddy Baby with earbutton c.1930s, Berta is mostly original and 28 cms (11") tall. She has typical downturned paws and carded feet, plus an open felt-lined mouth.
Stuffed mainly with woodwool, all her joints work fine, and her original twill pads are in good condition, though both paws have old darns. She's kept all her claws, and has back-painted glass eyes and a black-stitched nose, with a few extra stitches added. There's a small threadbare area to her lower torso, otherwise she's a lovely strong bear.
Berta still has a reasonable amount of fur, though some overall loss. She's a very lovable character, and is wearing her handknitted sailor outfit and vintage ribbon.
