Balbo
An unusual, floppy grey mohair character with big cardlined feet and metal-painted eyes, Balbo also has a moulded dog nose and was most likely made by Pedigree c.1950s. His tilt growler still works and he stands 41 cms (16") tall.
Stuffed with woodwool, he has downturned padless paws and large ears lined with contrasting peach mohair. In fact he looks like a cross between a bunny and a bear!
Balbo's mouth is worn with messy old wool threads, giving him an even quirkier appearance. Also, all his joints are quite loose, especially his head which revolves all the way round, but they're secure enough. There's a sewn repair to the outer edge of a footpad, and both front ankle seams have been oversewn.
This delightful ted is wearing his vintage vest and badge 'Try it you'll like it'. His name is Latin meaning 'the mutterer'. Well, he does ramble on a bit!
