Nelie
An eccentric, early blonde mohair humpbacked Steiff teddy c.1908 (no button), Nelie is all original except for a restored mouth thread, and stands 29 cms (11.5") tall, with shoebutton eyes and lots of fur.
Fully-jointed and stuffed with woodwool, she has a tan-stitched nose and mouth, and felt pads in good condition with minor wear, plus all but one of her claws remaining. Her tilt growler no longer works, but she's kept about 90% of her fur, with most loss to her face.
Apart from some slight settling of stuffing to the top of her left arm, and a few darned stitches to the right side of her head, mostly hidden by her fur, Nelie is a good strong bear and a very sweet character.
She's wearing her handknitted jacket and vintage bloomers with decorative hat and also brings her basket of antique haberdashery. Her name is an abbreviation of the German Annelie, meaning 'favour, grace'.
