Chahna
An incredibly well-loved, worn Chad Valley dressed elephant with back button and red embroidered footlabel c.1930s. Chahna is 24 cms (9.5") tall, and her head and legs are made of velvet, though poor girl has lost her 'arms' or forelegs as they would be. Goodness knows what happened to them.
Unjointed and stuffed with kapok, Chahna has one cardlined sole, while the other is long gone. Her felt footpads are in holes, and one has old sewn repairs around the edge. Her trunk is all askew and in a bit of a mess, on account of being sewn down on one side, and there's traces of old glue.
Her eyes are also missing, but she's nevertheless an endearing character, wearing her original clothes which are attached to her cloth body. Chahna is a popular elephant name meaning 'love'.
