Sleeping Beauty
A lazy old Merrythought monkey nightwear case with footlabel, first designed by Lawson Wood in 1935 and called 'Sleeping Beauty'. Described in Merrythought's sales catalogue as 'sublimely oblivious to the world's cares', this Beauty is made of soft alpaca plush, with a velvet face and painted features.
She's 60 cms (24") long, unjointed and stuffed with kapok. Her metal zipped storage compartment is lined with peach quilted fabric in very good condition. Her limbs are bent into a sleeping position, and she also has velvet ears, hands and feet. The tips of her toes show a little wear, and there's a tiny hole above her lip, but she has lots of fur remaining, and is wearing her cosy old cotton printed bedjacket.
SLEEPING BEUATY IS 45 GBP.
