Hortense & Heloise
This engaging, early humpbacked French teddy c.1920s, has an elegant protruding muzzle, along with original shoebutton eyes and a tan-stitched nose and mouth. She's 43 cms (17") tall, and fully-jointed.

Stuffed with woodwool, this has settled a little around her neck making her head tilt in a charming fashion. Her pads are old replacements and she has a non-working tilt growler clunking about inside.

There's a small patched repair to the tip of her right paw, and darning to the back of her neck, plus a tiny threadbare area to the top of her head and along her back seam. Overall though, Hortense is a sturdy bear, and a lovely colour despite having only a sprinkling of bright gold mohair remaining. Hortense is wearing her vintage flower-printed dress with taffeta underskirt.

Her pretty companion, Heloise, is a little rod-jointed French doll from the same period, standing 33 cms (13") tall. She's all original and stuffed with woodwool. She has a painted face and curls of hair peeping from her bonnet which, like her clothes, is attached to her. Her neck is unjointed and her limbs are made of pink linen. Apart from a few hairline cracks to her face, she's in good condition.
