Oceane
A gentle-faced early French teddy, most likely made by Fadap c.1920s, Oceane is a stocky girl and heavily stuffed with woodwool. She's 53 cms (21") tall, and has retained all her original features including clear glass eyes and a brown-stitched nose and mouth, plus twill pads and cardlined feet.
Fully-jointed, she's a little threadbare in places, and her pawpads have a few holes. Similarly, her footpads have been oversewn around the edges where the carded soles had worn through. Also there's an underarm repair close to her joint, and the stuffing has settled slightly around her neck.
This charming bear doesn't have a huge amount of gold mohair remaining, and would have been a real stunner in her youth. Now she's simply an endearing character with a most lovable expression.
Oceane is wearing her vintage French-style sailor outfit which has been made to look old. Her name is French for 'ocean'.
