Cha'risa
A much-adored, rare humpbacked American Hecla teddy c.1907, Cha'risa is all original with striking yellow mohair and distinctive, rust-coloured nose, mouth and claw stitching. She's 30 cms (12") tall, and also has typical, close-set glass eyes with painted backs, and large carded feet.
Having lived in a private collection for over seven years, she's relatively new to the market, and is a scrumptious character with some endearing, quirky features, including lopsided eyes and legs that seem determined to twist to the left!
Stuffed mostly with woodwool, this has settled in one wrist, and both ankles. Also, some of the paint has worn off her eyes, and a thread is missing from her nose.
All her joints are in working order, and she has a full orchestra of claws, five to each limbs. Her felt pads are in excellent condition, with just two tiny pinprick holes. Although she's suffered fur loss, especially to the front of her torso, Cha'risa has kept about 70% overall.
She's a darling old bear with a dreamy expression, and is wearing her precious antique outfit, with vintage brooch. Her name is Native American Hopi meaning 'elk'.
