Uncle Sam
Uncle Sam the goat-herder is an engaging early Steiff boy, with original shoebutton eyes, nose and mouth stitching. He's completely bald, bless him, and no longer has his earbutton, but he does have the most wonderful humped back and elongated muzzle.

Standing 30 cms (12") tall, and originally stuffed with woodwool, he's been topped up with kapok in the past, and his felt pads are old replacements. All his claws are intact, and he's a good sturdy bear, and fully-jointed. There's some faint staining to his face and left arm, and a bit of pinkness at the back, but on the whole, he's in great shape.

Until recently, Uncle Sam lived in America for many years, including New York, where he was fond in an attic stored with some old toys. A handwritten note from his previous owner will accompany him. He also comes wearing his handknitted outfit and vintage waistcoat with bell scarf. His Steiff pal, Guthrie goat, is available separately, and details can be found in Good Companions.
UNCLE SAM IS 395 GBP, 610 USD, 472 EUR
