Medora
This wonderful, early W.J.Terry girl is is 48 cms (19") tall, with gorgeous yellow-blonde mohair and cardlined feet. Her large glass eyes are old replacements, but are very much in keeping with the Terry style and, although extra stitches have been added to her nose, some original threads remain. Her mouth has also been re-sewn.
Stuffed mostly with woodwool, which has settled around the top of her chest, all her joints work fine, and her pads were recovered long ago in a soft sueded fabric. This has now split towards the back of one foot, showing her carded sole.
There's a small patched repair to the top of one shoulder, and Medora has a broken tilt growler.
She's kept about 65% of her fur, with most loss to the backs of her arms and front of torso.
Wearing her antique onesie trimmed with lace, and decorated with a vintage brooch, plus embroidered silk bonnet, and fur-trimmed leather shoes, Medora oozes charisma, and her name is a poetic character created by Lord Bryon, so she's quite literally an inspirational teddy bear!
