Ava
A pretty pensive, early German Steiff girl with earbutton c.1918, Ava is 31 cms (12") tall, and original except for old replaced linen pads. She has back-painted amber glass eyes and a black-stitched nose and mouth.
Stuffed mostly with woodwool, all her claws are intact, and she's five-way jointed. There's a couple of small repairs to her back, and the front of one ankle, otherwise she's in very nice condition, having kept about 60% of her gold mohair, with most loss to her torso, especially at the back.
Ava is wearing her beautiful antique voile dress and precious peach silk bonnet, and is a quietly charming old teddy. In German, her name means 'bird', but dont expect her to whistle!
