Gran'Pop
The most favourite Gran'Pop of all, is this rare Merrythought monkey designed by Lawson Wood in the late 1930s. The old boy is all original and has three embroidered footlabels, including two registered design numbers! An almost identical example can be seen in 'The Magic of Merrythought' book by John Axe on page 142.
Our Gran'Pop is 31 cms (12") tall, stuffed with woodwool and fully-jointed. He's in wonderful condition, having kept virtually all of his apricot mohair that's now admittedly a little faded in places. His adorable velvet face has darkened and hardened with age, so is no longer soft to the touch, but only to be expected with the passing of time.
His velvet hands and feet are in super condition, and he has wired limbs, and a silent squeaker, along with an endearing put belly and long tufts of fur sprouting from his velvet ears.
Gran'Pop is wearing his sloppy handknitted pullover, and old check scarf with vintage 'Royal British Legion' badge. He also brings his smoking pipe, which is brand new, so has no stale tobacco odour. He's promised not to light it without your permission!
GRAN'POP IS 195 GBP, 303 USD, 237 EUR
