Horace Button
This amusing, and undeniably lovable, early French character has various distinguishing features, the most obvious being his magnificent bulbous-stitched nose! We believe this was re-sewn in the past to conceal his worn muzzle, and old repairs can still be seen to the right side.

Horace also has a rather intriguing arrangement of replaced claws sewn ladder-style up the back of his paws, instead of being spread across the tips.

He also possesses an interesting collection of buttons externally securing his rod-jointed limbs. We don't know if any, or all of these are later additions, but there's a pair of matching goldtone buttons on his arms, and a worn silvertone button on one leg, with a REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE button on his other leg. All fascinating stuff.

His pads have been recovered in linen and he's stuffed with woodwool, and has a disc-jointed head. His boot button eyes are original, and he stands 50 cms (20") tall. Both ears have been re-attached at some point, and there's a few small repairs here and there, but he's a good strong teddy, mostly bald, with only a glimmer of gold mohair remaining.

Horace is a very likeable chap, and is wearing his handknitted sweater and tailored trousers, with vintage hat and French Horn badge 'L'infatigable'. His christian name is the French version of Roman Horatius meaning 'has good eyesight'.
