Blanche Dubois
A wonderful, large early French humpbacked teddy bear c.1920s/30s, Blanche Dubois is mostly bald, with only a few wisps of white mohair remaining. She's 51 cms (20") tall, with original brown nose and mouth stitching, and a rare, working squeaker in her back.

Filled with woodwool and fully-jointed, she has replacement clear glass eyes, and old replaced paw pads, which are now a bit tatty.
Her original brushed cotton footpads are slightly worn, with a few rust marks. She has most of her claws and, apart from one or two tiny holes and darns here and there, is a big strong girl with a lovely pronounced muzzle.

Wearing her fabulous, antique French silk dress embroidered with strawberries, and 1930s French linen hat, Blanche is a very desirable character with an engaging smile. She also brings an old French postcard dated 1906. Her name is French from the word 'white' or fair-skinned'.
