A wonderful, rare apricot mohair, humpbacked J.K.Farnell character, 48 cms (19") tall, c.1930s. All original except for a restored mouth stitch. Dame Philberta has amber glass eyes and a black-stitched nose and mouth.

Fully-jointed and filled with kapok (head woodwool), her pads are the cotton-backed remains of rexine, and she has most of her claws, and a non-working squeaker. There's a small stitch on her torso, which looks to be where a swing label may have been attached.

Philberta has kept about 25% of her fur, which has retained much of its original colour, with most loss to her legs. Wearing her antique satin dress and waxed flower circlet, she also has a beautiful heart-shaped pendant, and brings her vintage rattle. She's a fantastic bear, and her name is teutonic, meaning 'exceptionally brilliant'.
