Darling Clementine, with her distinctive heart-shaped emboidered nose and oval feet, is an early humpbacked Aetna teddy c.1907. She's 46 cms (18") tall, and original except for a restored mouth and one replaced footpad. Having kept about 80% of her gold mohair, she's in wonderful condition for her age.
Fully-jointed and filled with a mix of woodwool and kapok, our Clemmie has shoebutton eyes, and felt pads - both paws have been patched, while her original cardlined foot has a couple of tiny holes. Most of her claws are intact.
Clemmie is wearing her fabulous, antique American wool check coat with velvet collar, and a matching reversible capelet that fastens with vintage gros grain ribbon ties. She also sports a pair of cute brown leather shoes with pom poms, plus a decorative straw hat, and brings her little basket of silk flowers. She's a rare, adorable character.
