This charming, and well-loved early American short bristly mohair girl, has original shoebutton eyes (re-attached), and a restored nose and mouth. She's 46 cms (18") tall, and filled with woodwool.

Fully-jointed, her pads are felt replacements, and there are neat repairs to the insides of each of her limbs. The stuffing has settled around her neck, and also her right wrist, so it's a bit floppy.
Hortense has kept about 50% of her bright gold mohair, with overall thinning.

With her sweet protruding muzzle, she's a lovely character and is wearing her antique voile embroidered dress, very fragile antique hat, and American Congress pinback ribbon dated 1894. Her name is Latin meaning 'of the garden - one with green fingers'.
